Kehlani's NICU Progress - Week 3
6-29-20 – Day 15: Today Marcus came home in the early morning before work and I took Kai to our friends, the Hunnicutts so Kai could spend the day with them. She had a blast and got to go swimming for the first time this summer too! I got to Kehlani’s room in time for the 11am feeding. I even woke up extra early to print on some preemie onesies for Kehlani to wear when she gets to go home! Kai’s grandparents got back from their vacation and she got to spend the evening with them while Marcus played sand volleyball in Harvard. During the night shift, Kehlani’s feeding tube got removed by Nurse Angie!!
Kehlani weighed in at 4lbs – 11.2 oz today.
6-30-20 – Day 16: Kehlani has been crushing all of her feedings! She’s doing so well! Between the 8am and 11am feedings, I returned to Heartwell Park for a morning jog. It was so good for my mind. Then at 11am, I got to try our first session of breastfeeding with Kehlani! She drank 20mL and we bottle-fed the rest (23mL). It was such a great bonding experience that I’ve waited so long for. It was a long, hard wait but very worth the wait! I brought the carseat in today to prepare for her carseat test this week too. She has to sit in it for 90 minutes and make sure she breathes well.
